Simon Weaver Cotswold Organic Dairy

The Weavers have been farming in the Cotswolds for the past three generations, and in the South West of England since before 1570.
We proudly follow a traditional method of organic farming, and place great store in caring for the land and animal welfare. Our closed organic herd enjoy a forage-based diet, and their milk production is not forced. We know that if our girls are happy, our cheeses will taste great too.

The farm is ideally suited for growing grass, and during the spring and summer the clover-sown meadows deliver all their promise. Bordered by the River Dikler, the Fosse Way and the village of Lower Slaughter, the land is made up of low-lying river meadows that have never been intensively farmed. On the higher ground, nitrogen-rich clover-sown meadows create ideal grazing conditions for the winter months.

Our dedicated artisan cheesemakers are passionate about cheese and we've had great fun searching the length and breadth of Britain, as well as abroad, to find the right skills, knowledge and people to fine tune our cheesemaking.

Our herdsman Richard has spent his entire life working with cattle, with over 42 years experience in the field. He is on first name terms with each of the 180 cows on the farm, and can often be found chewing over the latest gossip with D

Our herdsman Richard has spent his entire life working with cattle, with over 42 years experience in the field. He is on first name terms with each of the 180 cows on the farm, and can often be found chewing over the latest gossip with Daisy, Petal and Rosie, the friendliest girls in the yard. Despite having to get up at 4.30am every day of the year, Richard loves rising half an hour earlier in the summer months to make the most of the beautiful morning light and lead the girls on a leisurely stroll from the fields to the milking shed – a gentle introduction to their working day.

Prizes & Awards

We really love our cheeses, and it seems other do too! Since we first started production, our range has won several awards.

In 2005 the Organic Cotswold Brie won the Gold category and the Best Organic Product category at the Taste of the West Food and Drink Awards. This was followed by a Silver award in 2006 and a Bronze award in 2007.

Established 13 years ago the Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards is the South West's most influential and celebrated awards for the food, farming and tourist industry, promoting the best food and drink products and the retailers and chefs dedicated to serving regional produce.

In 2006, we were thrilled to learn that the Organic Cotswold Blue-Veined Brie won Best Organic Product at the World Cheese Awards.
