Finca San Francisco Tecuamburro is located in southern Guatemala, roughly 50 kilometres south east of Guatemala City near the town of Pueblo Nuevo Viñas in the Fraijanes region.

The farm consists of 110 manzanas (1 manzana = 1.68 acres) of which the best part sits inside the crater of the dormant Strato-volcano called Tecuamburro. It is a truly amazing location.

The location permits ideal climatic conditions for the production of high quality specialty coffee - ideal latitude at 1460-1770 metres, favourable temperatures and micro climate and a good shade cover provided by cujillo and guagua trees.

The leaf-fall from the cujillo and guagua trees contributes to the leaf mold which provides a rich soil humus.

Harvesting is undertaken by hand in stages as the cherries reach peak maturation during the period January-March. The water used in the wet processing comes from fresh water springs on the farm which also provide drinking water to the population in Chiquimulilla and Guazacapán.

The cup exhibits - muted citrus acidity, a sweet, smooth silky mouthfeel, chocolate body with notes of ripe pineapple.

This is a great decaf - a firm winner.
